about

This meditative afro-slowhouse track features the kora, a beautiful African harp instrument played traditionally by a hereditary caste of poet-musicians called griots.

The track is also inspired by one of my favorite afro-pop bands, Bembeya Jazz, who rose to prominence as the national band of Guinea after their country gained independence in 1958. Their name in turn comes from the Bembeya river which snakes through their country.

The kora melodies float serenely on top of percolating percussion, vocal chops and my trumpet stabs...enjoy!
